My Father's Keeper

This poem is written for someone on 360 who just lost her father.

☆*•.¸-‘๑’☯My Father's Keeper☯-‘๑’-¸.•☆

Darkness falls when light escapes.

My heart bleeds tears when they no longer run down my face.

I find myself seeking slumber if only for an escape.

Who can prepare for such a loss?

Why do we have to say goodbye?

Questions I scream in silence as I take your side.

The years escaped us.

So many yet so few.

I am your daughter.

I am part of you.

No shield can protect me from this pain.

You tried to prepare me for this journey of sorrow.

I prayed, "Please not today let us have another tomorrow!"

Darkness lifts when reality takes place.

Slowly I find comfort in the strangest place.

I catch a glimpse of you in my hands, my words, my face.

Your existence remains through the life of my own.

Memories of you forever burned in my mind.

Remembering bruised knees only a father could heal.

Your words of encouragement soft spoken and kind.

I realize the task you have given me.

A task I will uphold with honor and pride.

I have become my Father's Keeper.

I will share the stories of your life for generations to come.

You will stay with me till we journey together again.

Father, I ask you journey in peace for you do not journey alone.

You are the one man I will always love.

Your Daugher.

Your Keeper.

Your Best Friend.
